Why has my transparent logo picked up a white box?

Because the output format was JPEG, which has no alpha channel, choosing it fills the canvas with white before anything else is drawn. Pick PNG or WebP to keep the logo’s transparency. The same trap applies at the other end: a logo that was saved as a JPEG already has a solid background baked into it, and no output format can recover what is not there.

What happens if one file in the batch will not decode?

The run stops at that file and names it in the error, so nothing half-finished is downloaded. Take that image out of the list and start the batch again.

FAQ

It is painted into the pixels, so there is no layer to switch off, but that is not the same as protection. A mark sitting in one corner can be cropped away in seconds, and a faint one can be painted over by anyone patient. Tiled mode at a low opacity is the honest answer to that: covering a mark repeated across the whole frame means damaging the picture. Treat it as a deterrent and a claim of authorship rather than a lock.
