How big does the finished collage come out?

Cell width is whichever size you picked, and cell height comes from the average aspect ratio of everything you added, clamped between 0.4 and 2.5 so one panorama cannot flatten the whole grid. Gaps are added around every cell, including the outside edge. If the result would pass 8000 px on a side or 20 megapixels in total, the cells and the gap are scaled down together until it fits.

FAQ

Every cell is the same shape, so a picture that does not match it is either cropped or padded. Cover fills the cell and clips the overflow; contain fits the whole image and pads the rest with the background colour. You can set the default for the grid, then click the badge beside one filename to cycle that image on its own, which is what you want when a single portrait shot is sitting in a row of landscapes.
