How it works

Weekly Timesheet Generator : Hours Totalled to a PDF

Seven days of in-and-out times with unpaid break minutes, totalled in decimal hours. The arithmetic runs in this tab and is never posted.

What this does
  • A clock-out earlier than the clock-in rolls past midnight, so 22:00 to 06:00 with a 30-minute break counts as 7.50 rather than minus sixteen hours
  • Break minutes come off before the day is credited, and the whole shift lands on the day it started
  • An optional hourly rate turns the weekly total into a gross figure. There is no overtime multiplier and no fortnightly period
FAQ

Because payroll works in decimal hours: 7 h 30 m is 7.50 and 7 h 20 m is 7.33. Sending 7.30 for the first of those underpays by six minutes a day. The grid and the PDF both use the decimal form, so there is nothing to convert on the way in. One consequence is worth knowing about: each day is rounded to two decimals only when it is printed, while the weekly total adds the unrounded values. Five days of 7 h 50 m show as 7.83 apiece but total 39.17, not the 39.15 you get by adding the printed column. The weekly figure is the accurate one.
