Do typos I go back and fix still count?

Accuracy is graded on the characters standing when the clock stops, position by position against the passage, so a typo you delete and retype is no longer wrong. The seconds it cost you are still gone, so the net WPM takes the hit instead.

FAQ

A word is five characters, spaces counted, which is the convention every typing test uses. Net WPM divides your correctly typed characters by five and scales that to a minute; raw WPM does the same with every character you typed, mistakes included. A fast, careless run is exactly the gap between the two.
