FAQ

The whole calendar months that have actually elapsed are counted first, and the leftover days are then measured forward from that anniversary. The more common shortcut, borrowing the length of the previous month, goes negative on cases like 31 January measured on 1 March, so it is not used here. The consequence is that the day remainder shifts with the length of the month you are currently in, and two people born a day apart can show different remainders on the same afternoon.
