How it works

Loan EMI Calculator: Payment and Amortization

Enter the amount, the annual interest rate and the term to get the monthly EMI, the total interest you will pay and a full year-by-year amortization schedule.

What this does
  • EMI from the amount and the annual rate, over a term of years plus any extra months
  • Total interest and total repaid, with interest as a share of the amount borrowed
  • Yearly schedule walked month by month, the last payment trimmed to clear the balance exactly
FAQ

The reducing-balance standard: EMI = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ ÷ ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1), where P is the principal, r is the monthly rate as a decimal (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n is the number of monthly payments. Every lender quoting a fixed equated instalment uses the same equation, so the payment should match a sanction letter to the rupee. What sits outside it: processing fees, credit insurance, tax on the interest component, and interest running from the disbursal date rather than the first instalment. There is no prepayment or part-payment field either, so the schedule assumes you pay exactly the EMI every month. Expect a quoted APR to land a little above this figure.
