How to compress a PDF to 100KB

Government portals, job applications and visa systems often demand uploads under 100–200 KB. Whether a PDF can get that small depends on what's in it: a 2-page text document compresses far below 100 KB, while a 30-page photo scan physically can't without becoming unreadable.

Use “Strong” mode for maximum reduction. If you're still over the limit, split the document first and compress only the pages the portal actually needs. That combination solves most 100 KB requirements.

Step by step

  1. 1Open the Compress PDF tool and drop your file.
  2. 2Choose “Strong”, the smallest-size preset.
  3. 3Check the live size estimate, then download.
  4. 4Still too big? Use Split PDF to keep only the required pages, then compress again.

Common questions

No, the floor depends on page count and image content. Short text documents get well under 100 KB; long photographic scans may not. Splitting out only the needed pages is the most effective trick.

Text stays readable; photographic detail is reduced. For portal uploads that's almost always an acceptable trade.

Yes, free, no watermark, and the file is compressed on your device without being uploaded.
